BRUSSELS, 11 December 2023 – Video Games Europe (VGE), has launched the Seize the Controls campaign in the run-up to the holiday season. The campaign aims to remind parents of the tools they can choose to set up the best video game play experience for their family and provides five tips to help manage video gameplay, including what children are playing, who they are playing with, how long they are playing for, and how much they can spend. The campaign will be promoted locally by Video Games Europe’s member national trade associations and companies, focusing on national data and information in each of the territories and languages.

The latest survey conducted jointly by PEGI and IPSOS shows that 79% of parents with children who play video games are aware of the PEGI age labels. Regarding parental control tools, among parents with children that play video games, 62% say they apply one or more tools to monitor or limit their child’s gameplay.

VGE CEO Simon Little said: “Our industry wants parents to be playing games and having fun with their children during the festive season and beyond. We believe these tools are a great support for support families in setting ground rules that encourage responsible play video games offer many benefits to both kids and adults, so instead of arguing about screen time, or spending, our members want to support and empower families to make the choices that are right for their family”.
