Video Games Europe and WIPO Partner to Advance IP Awareness in Esports
Geneva, 5 November 2024 – Video Games Europe CEO, Simon Little, and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Director-General Daren Tang, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today at WIPO’s headquarters in Geneva. This strategic partnership aims to foster collaboration in the field of esports and intellectual property (IP).
Esports, or competitive video game play, require a responsible ecosystem that protects and respects the creative foundations of it - the IP of the video games. Together with WIPO, Video Games Europe will raise awareness of IP rights within esports and licensing, promote best practices, and support all stakeholders in navigating the IP landscape.
This MoU ensures that creativity and innovation can continue to flourish in the video games industry in Europe, and for players and fans worldwide. It marks an exciting step forward in fostering an informed and sustainable esports environment.
