Digital Ministers Informal Council – Jutland declaration

10/10/2025

Video Games Europe and its members are proud of their long-standing commitment to best-in-class minor protection tools, including the self-and co-regulatory body, PEGI, that has been setting a high bar for minor protection and parental guidance for more than 20 years and is used by the industry in 40 countries across Europe.

Importantly, Europe’s video games sector is a strategic asset, with 6,000 studios supporting 116,000 highly-skilled jobs across our continent. The Jutland declaration’s recognition of competitiveness is welcome, but the business models that underpin that very competitiveness - as well as consumer choice - need protection. Any recommendations regarding regulation of the sector ahead of the DFA consultation conclusions would be premature and potentially damaging to the sector.
