From Ipsos - Technical note for this key facts report:
Throughout this report we present the number of people who are playing video games in millions. We do this by extrapolating from our research data (for example, the number of those aged 6-75 in the UK in 2025 who play video games is 43.6% which has been extrapolated to represent an estimated 25.0m people). Total population figures for each market are taken from recently published estimates provided by Eurostat (2024) and Census (2022 – UK only).
Whilst every care has been taken to ensure the robustness of our data, our data accuracy is limited by its sample size, and therefore there is a margin of error that exists around any figures reported. A 95% confidence level is used for all population extrapolations. This means that the population size of any group lies in a range. The range for the UK has been calculated below. Using the example of the UK, the % who play video games will be ±1.7% with a 95% confidence interval. Therefore:
| Description of group | Estimated size of the group | Lower estimate | Higher estimate |
| UK players aged 6-75 | 25.0 million | 24.3 million | 26.2 million |
